Financial Aid

Cirris students can receive mixed financial support, i.e., from several sources (depending on the rules of the different funding programs). Several internal and external funding programs are offered to summer interns, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows by the Cirris.

Cirris Internal Funding Programs

Summer Internships Program

Format: Scholarship or wage support of $4,000.

Objectif : Support excellence by offering scholarships or wage supports to undergraduate or professional master’s students. As they pursue their academic program during the summer, they will be introduced to university-level research and the scientific life of a research centre. The ultimate goal of this program is to encourage them to pursue their studies on to higher levels by working with our researchers, as well as to improve their academic record in preparation for a scholarship application to an external source.

Graduate Scholarships Program

Format : $15,000/yr. (master level) or $18,000/yr. (doctoral level) scholarship in partnership with the research director, with the possibility of renewal for a second year.

Objective :  Support student training and the development of the centre by offering to regular researchers scholarships destined to graduate students with excellent records and a research project that is in line with the centre’s strategic objectives. Students of associate researchers are also eligible if the student is co-supervised by a regular researcher. In all cases, the student must carry out his/her research project at the Cirris.

Deadline to apply:

  • Competition 1: May 1st of the current year
  • Competition 2 : November 1st of the current year

End of training Scholarships Program

Format :  $4,000 maximum scholarship (master level) or $5,000 maximum scholarship (doctoral level). 

Objective : Support graduate students who are at the end of their training program and no longer have funding, and whose research director cannot offer financial support to complete their master’s or Ph.D. thesis.

Deadline to apply:

  • Competition 1 :  May 1st of the current year
  • Competition 2 : November 1st of the current year

Postdoctoral Scholarships Program

Format : $45,000 scholarship (1 yr.) in partnership with the research supervisor.

Goal :  Support the development of the centre by offering to regular researchers scholarships destined to postdoctoral fellows with exceptional records and a research project that is in line with the centre’s strategic objectives.

Deadline to apply:

  • Competition 1: May 1st of the current year
  • Competition 2:  November 1st of the current year
